Meet The Copy Katz
The Copy Katz began performing as a four-piece band in the summer of 2022, cutting their teeth at backyard barbecues and private parties. Over the years, the band has refined its craft and welcomed new members into the lineup. As the group has grown, so has its audience, performing for a variety of communities across the state of Michigan. Today, The Copy Katz are focused on what they love most: creating fun, dynamic live performances that bring audiences together.
IAN MARTZKE
// guitar and vocals
Ian has been involved in local music since his late teens, and has played everything from folk, to heavy metal. He has performed in DIY spaces alongside other local bands and on large stages opening for national touring acts. As a vocalist, Ian's versatility is clear as he moves through the course of the set. From crooning through love songs to belting out full-blooded rock and roll, Ian delivers a performance that has audiences singing along at the chorus.

Ian has been a Kat since the band's inception and approaches each performance with enthusiasm and passion. "When I am playing music, I feel most like myself."
When Ian is not performing in The Copy Katz, he teaches visual art to high schoolers and drinks an impressive amount of Diet Coke.

LIZ SCHUDER
// vocals, percussion, and saxophone
Liz joined The Copy Katz in the summer of 2023 and quickly became an indispensable part of the band’s sound. A true jack of all trades, she is also a powerhouse vocalist whose talent and versatility elevate every performance.
At any Copy Katz show, you’re likely to see Liz moving seamlessly between congas and a variety of auxiliary percussion, picking up the saxophone or harmonica, adding rich backing and harmony vocals, and stepping confidently into the spotlight to deliver a dynamic lead vocal performance.

AMY MAYHEW
// bass
One of the band’s founding members, Amy is living proof that it’s never too late to try something new.
After a successful career as an instructional designer in the automotive industry, Amy retired in 2023 and hasn’t slowed down since. In addition to playing with the Katz, she performs with several other bands while wintering in southern Arizona.
In her spare time, Amy enjoys music, golf, and fishing with her husband, Tony in Canadian Lakes.

DAVE BOUCK
// drums
Our fun-loving drummer, Dave, is an original Copy Katz member and the older brother of our bass player, Amy.
Now in the final years of a dynamic career in food service sales, Dave has been a music lover since childhood and always knew he wanted to play drums. Watching his high school marching band thunder through a downtown parade sealed the deal. Dave was active in music from the sixth grade on, spanning high school and into college as a percussionist on the Ferris State University Bulldog drum-line.
Since that time, Dave dreamed of starting a rock and roll cover band—making The Copy Katz a dream come true.
In his spare time, Dave is an avid deer hunter. He and his wife, Kathy, also enjoy traveling, weekend getaways, and attending concerts.

DAVE BOND
// keyboard
David joined the Katz at the start of the 2025 season. He began playing piano at age 10, and music has remained a central part of his life ever since.
He loves performing with the Katz and sees it as a meaningful way to share ideas and channel creative energy into memorable shows for the venues and audiences we serve.
Outside of music, David enjoys cooking, fishing, and spending time with his fiancée, Dawn.

PHIL BATES
// lead guitar
Phil has been playing music for as long as he can remember and has performed in bands across West Michigan for more than 30 years.
His distinctive playing style and signature guitar tone are second to none, blending seamlessly with The Copy Katz’ vibe.
Like most guitar enthusiasts, Phil has been accumulating guitars just as long as he’s been playing them — and if he doesn’t find more storage space soon, he just may be in trouble!
